Vintage Gutter Flowerbox

..."if at times you find you're in the gutter of life...
--plant some flowers and enjoy the view!"
Not just a great life-metaphor ...
it is my theme for a fun fall project.
:o)

 Recently (6 months ago),
I came across some very old and crusty gutters curbside...
Now your probably thinking...
"who in their right mind,
would pick up gutter garbage
 from someone else's curb?"

yep...

That would be me.
 I had to have them.
my only plan at the time was to just get them in the car..
I had no idea "what" I would do with them.

and they sat in my garage...

where my husband would ask me almost every week,
"hon, what are these for? (read--and when are they going away?)"
 and then it hit....
inspiration
If you happen across some old gutters...here is an easy "how-to":
Using tin-snips,
carefully cut and fold back the open side edge
of an old gutter to create a flower "box".
Fill with moss and mums.
Punch two holes in the back to add a wire for hanging.
(I used a grommet hole punch.)
The results certainly give rainy skies
and gutter views
a new perspective!

  2. I have to admit my 1st thought was 'Are they aluminum?' You're lucky you beat out the scrappers. That metal would have been $$ in someones pocket. Glad you were able to salvage them. Great idea.
