Medallion painting--how-to

Medallions are a wonderful way to accent a chandelier
and create vertical balance in a room.
My friend has a dining room with 20ft ceilings
and bought a chandelier that was 6ft high by 4 ft wide.
HUGE!

When you want to show off a chandelier that big,
you really need to have something substantial at the
point where the fixture is hanging to create a balanced look.

Coastal Side Table- A Thrifty Make-over

What says "beachy" more than that aged turquoise blue
combined with a shabby style white wash?

I am always drawn to these summer colors and
until now I never knew how to achieve that look in furniture.
Annie Sloan Chalk Paint makes it simple.

Lamp Re-vamp

Sometimes you just want a change...
Its not that it isn't nice the way it is,
It's just that you happen to have the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (R) bug
and cannot stop painting everything in sight.
But it's not a bad thing...because things look good with a coat of AS Paint!
Here's a recent re-vamp:
Lamp Base before.

Printed Burlap Cork Message Board How-to

If you are like me, I tend to collect little bits and pieces...
...photos, postcards, business cards...
It's nice to have a nice place to put these items.
Something that says more "decor" than just an "office supply".
You can create you own stylish message board/cork board
like this one with a few supplies.

Vintage Glass on Mirror Tray for Bathroom

What do you do when your master bath is in desperate need of a renovation
but you have to wait to tackle the projects one at a time as budget allows?
Simple: distract with pretty sparkly objects!

Simple Magnet Message Board How-to Project

Dilemma:
Where to put all those cute glass magnets from our glass
magnet project we made last month?
We needed a place to use them!
So we created this fun message board out of sheet metal from the hardware store;
framed it with moulding; And of course
....Painted it pink to coordinate with my girl's room.

Shutter buffet re-do

I have been on the search for a long buffet for quite a while.
One that would fill a long wall in my dining room.
Strolling through the quaint Roseville antique fair a few months back I found exactly the piece and it was priced right!
It was made out of an old shutter...So clever!
Wonderfully worn, dented and chipped!

Perfect to downplay the formality of the dining room.
It's 80 plus inches filled the space perfectly.
However, I wanted to add some extra shelf space underneath...here's how I did it...

Corkboard Vanity Push-pin Make-Over

I am so thankful that both of my young daughters share a love for my chippy,
old-made-new furniture style.
My sweet 11 year-old has loved this vintage desk-vanity
as long as she could remember.

And that is because I acquired it before she was born.
It was my "first" freebie find--it was about to be thrown out
