Vintage Handmade Eggs

So often in life I have a renewed
appreciation for things
I never paid much attention to
when I was younger.

In my young mind, Easter eggs were supposed to be pastel.
That's the only way they were supposed to be celebrated.

I loved to dye Easter eggs every year.
This is what I remembered when my mom visited me last winter.

She brought with her, as she often does,
a box of "things"
to pass on to me if I want them.
This time the things were from my Nana,
{who passed 5 years ago}.
In this box was a little bag of "eggs."
I remembered we had all decorated them together.

This had been a family affair.
I remember mom and I "blowing" the insides out of real eggs
{so cool to see this happen!}
My young self (maybe 12 years - old ) sat with Nana and mom
watching how they planned to adhere,
 {what i thought then was ugly}
vintage origami tissue paper onto these eggs.
In my mind, none of the eggs "matched"...they were all different styles.
Carefully we wrapped the delicate paper around each egg
and used a watered-down glue to "paint" the paper in place.
Finding these eggs...
after all these years...
knowing each one was lovingly touched, held and painted by
my mom and grandmother...
Each one has a new beauty.
I wish I had more.
Grateful to have decor with a rich history and story.
Handmade.
Vintage.
One.of.a.kind.
Each gorgeous egg.
Like my precious Nana.
Like my amazing Mom.
A blessed gift resurrected from the past.
Refreshing my old memories.
Renewing my appreciation for where beauty lies.
Reminding me of our precious Savior.
Who too was resurrected
to bring us new life.
Happy Holy Week!
