Simple Magnet Message Board How-to Project

Dilemma:
Where to put all those cute glass magnets from our glass
magnet project we made last month?
We needed a place to use them!
So we created this fun message board out of sheet metal from the hardware store;
framed it with moulding; And of course
....Painted it pink to coordinate with my girl's room.

It is simple to create and requires minimal tools and woodworking skills.
Sheet metal comes in a large sheet for about $20 at Home Depot.
Cut this in half with tin-snips for material for two boards.
The frame around the metal is made from mdf fluted moulding.
Cut with a hand saw using a miter box.
Cut (2) of each size to cover your metal edges about 1.5 inches.
I glued my mitered corners together with Gorrilla glue.  Yep..I did.  I glued two at at time, and put a heavy doorstop on top of the corner to weight it down while it dried.
Once it dried, I used my favorite color of Annie Sloan!
Next:  Lay sheet metal on the back side and secure the corners with some "L" brackets.
I used a nail to punch a hole through the metal so the screw would fit.
Add picture hangers on each side and your new metal message board is ready to go!

I will post our 2nd one...(turquoise) when it is finished.

Happy Messaging!

    1. Great idea for a kitchen! I actually think the entire large sheet of galvanized metal would make a great oversized message board for the kitchen! With big bulky moulding. I hope you make one!-aimee
