Shutter buffet re-do

I have been on the search for a long buffet for quite a while.
One that would fill a long wall in my dining room.
Strolling through the quaint Roseville antique fair a few months back I found exactly the piece and it was priced right!
It was made out of an old shutter...So clever!
Wonderfully worn, dented and chipped!

Perfect to downplay the formality of the dining room.
It's 80 plus inches filled the space perfectly.
However, I wanted to add some extra shelf space underneath...here's how I did it...
It did have cross supports, so I painted (3) 4inch x 6ft pineboards  with Annie Sloan Old White...and laid them across the cross bars for a quick-fix shelf redo!

I love my new buffet...
Allow me to show off how I am using that shelf to highlight some of my favorite things.
Namely, this beautiful antique china from my grandmother.

This set is from my great grandmothers wedding
...which was in 1910.
Beautiful cream color with silver detail.
I used old wire pool-baskets rescued from a university trash bin.
I love how the old rusty finish contrasts with the porcelain.
The background of the shelf is a Pottery Barn wrought iron fence piece I received many years ago--love the scroll details.
This set was my grandmother's wedding set dating from the 1940's.
Again, beautiful cream with a silver detail.
(Interestingly enough, my mom's wedding china is also a cream set with a simple silver detail.
I don't think they planned it that way but they all look beautiful together.)

Showing off roses from our garden...
Bird salt and pepper shakers

Candle detail

I look forward to being able to change out the
shelf items with the seasons.
