There is no easier way to get into the spirit of Christmas than with Poinsettias.
Just having this plant in the house...with its bright red leaves...transforms a room and says,
"It's Christmastime!"
Not only are pointsettias relatively inexpensive,
but they come in an assortment of sizes and varieties to address every area of your home.
The one problem is, however, when you buy them,
they are wrapped in plastic and metallic foil which doesn't always fit a decor theme.
1. Use floral moss to create a pointsettia basket:

Here are three easy ways to upscale your poinsettia plants
for your home or to make a special gift.
This old wrought iron basket-urn was "curbed" years ago.
Add a little spanish moss and spagnum moss around your plant container.
I removed the foil completely, and set mine in a plastic dish to catch the water....
The result is a nice formal looking centerpiece.
2. Set plant inside a larger container.
Cut the foil down so it isn't visible but don't remove it so it can still catch the excess water.
In this case I used an old tin flower shop container--a little dented, a little rusty...
... perfect country charm.
3. Wrap your pot in a burlap square and secure with twine.
Again, I cut down the foil so it wouldn't show but kept it so the plant won't leak.
This just adds a warm texture to the plant and makes a nice way to gift one.
Easy ways to customize your plants to add to your Christmas decor!
