Who doesn't like a nice decorative scented candle?

This project was a fun one I did with my girls so they could have a "homemade" gift for their teachers.

Shutter buffet re-do

I have been on the search for a long buffet for quite a while.

One that would fill a long wall in my dining room.

Strolling through the quaint Roseville antique fair a few months back I found exactly the piece and it was priced right!

It was made out of an old shutter...So clever!

Wonderfully worn, dented and chipped! 

Perfect to downplay the formality of the dining room.

It's 80 plus inches filled the space perfectly.

However, I wanted to add some extra shelf space underneath...here's how I did it...

Happy Father's Day

Dads play such a special role in our lives.  

The dads in my life have been great encouragers.  

Motivating me to keep challenging myself and to do my best.

I even think I got a passion for rustic things from my pop. 

Here he made a rustic potting bench for me out of scrap lumber...

Part of the fun of decorating occurs 

when you find a piece that speaks to you when you least expect it.

This was exactly what occurred as I strolled through our local 

Re Store, (Habitat for Humanity), and saw an item that was 

clearly vintage.

The wood was beautifully worn.  

The paint, rubbed away through the years.

Roadtrip Inspiration! 

 A few weeks ago my hubby offered to take the family 
on an "adventure" drive exploring 
the country roads of the Sierra Foothills.
