One of the stops along the way as our family journeyed across the country,
was the home of my long time best friend,
and (in my opinion), one of the most talented designers on the planet!
Lisa Sanford co-owns Shutters Home Design and
opened the doors of her beautiful home
in Scottsdale to my family for a day and night of complete rest and renewal.
She recently finished an extensive, loving remodel of the home
she's lived in for 20 years
and has turned it into a showpiece that is at once relaxing and refined.

Her unique style is evident in everything she touches.
Gorgeous tile planked floors set the stage for her scaled back and refined decor that is always following two rules--it must be a shade of white and have a luxurious texture and feel.
Her keen eye for style and focus makes every room feel welcoming and cozy
without feeling pretentious. {hello Bella...}
Bedding is simple and clean with layers of silky
Egyptian cotton and relaxed linen in a beautiful neutral palette.
Her master bath is a perfect blend of Carrera marble and shiny nickle fixtures.
Vanities are Restoration Hardware and extra tall mirrors are from Home Goods.
She pulled out a builder grade corner tub and replaced it
with this gorgeous two-toned, free-standing soaker gem.
Just the view of the chandelier takes you away to your own private spa setting.
Lisa combines classic lines with slightly contemporary sconces flanking each mirror, adding visual balance to the scale and height of the master bathroom.
The standard shower enclosure was replaced with gorgeous free-standing glass and carrera tile.
The new shower fixture was an indulgence she does not regret. The over-sized nickle finish rain shower head is easily 18 inches in diameter and also comes with a hand held spray component.
The master bed has bright windows and an office desk
that serves as both a retreat and a place for creativity.

The clean linen headboard is flanked by two round,
willow side tables and mercury glass lamps.
Lisa's laundry room may not be big in size, but it is big in style.
It is still a room that inspires one to admire how every area of the home
can be both functional and beautiful.
Gorgeous boxwood topiaries in grey willow baskets anchor the end of a hallway.
Lisa recently scaled back all her decor to the very cleanest and simplest objects
that add to the scale of her home in an understated elegant way.
Simple white towels hung on a wrought iron hanger create a beautiful and functional display.
The guest bedroom has a beautiful black striped ticking comforter cover and clean white accents.
The second bath features side by side surface-mount, square sinks,
flanked by narrow but tall black mirrors.
This is the only room in her home that does not have white furniture
still wowing us with the same clean, fresh aesthetic.

Her sitting room displays an over-sized chicken wire frame that holds beautiful
sentiments to a future bride {Lisa's lovely daughter}, from her recent bridal shower.
Antique scones balance each side of the sitting room entry.
Powder room. Incredible dropcloth padded walls
and a raised pedestal sink from Restoration Hardware.
All of Lisa's bathrooms feature vintage looking bottles
for liquid soap--her secret for keeping sinks and showers clean even when they are not in use.
Lisa's eclectic mix of vintage linen and burlap pillows--all with soft down inserts
make her "formal" couch an inviting place to enjoy easy conversation.
Lisa's dining table--with simple back covers on her chairs and a lovely fern centerpiece.
Through the dining room window you are treated to a view of her backyard porch complete with outdoor dining table and cabana-style, drop cloth breezy drapes.
Every view leads your eye to a simple but striking vignette.
An over-sized Italian design, reproduction chandelier is from Canopy lighting.

A half wall was removed to combine the two spaces into one large area.
