Are you ready for some cute Burlap pumpkins?
You will love these because they are virtually mistake proof...
Each one as unique as the real gourds are.
And they are easy to make...and you just may already have materials on hand.
Burlap Pumpkin Tutorial:
Minimal sew-Stuff-Tie-Embellish-Done.
1) Start with a 12inch x 12inch piece of burlap; folded at the bottom edge.
2) Start from folded bottom and sew two curves as shown. Trim.
3) Stuff with your favorite stuffing.
4) Fold the unfinished top like a package
5) Take hemp twine and wrap your burlap "package" like a package.
Instead of creating quarters with the twine--create eighths.
6) Tie your hemp a the top. You can begin to see the pumpkin take shape.
7)Take a large eyed needle and thread some hemp from the top to the bottom and back to the top, looping around all the strings to tie.
8)This you will tie tight and
9) squeeze down your pumpkin into a tighter squatter package as shown #9.
Finishes:
Add a cute piece of burlap ribbon tucked under a side of hemp
and hot glue a piece of a branch to be the stem.
Yes...a small tree branch makes a great little stem.
Once you start, you can't make just one...
you'll need a bucket full of different colors!
Check out the cute fluer de lis burlap {from walmart!}
Have fun! It doesn't have to be perfect to be perfect!

ReplyDeleteone question tho, is the piece you start with actually a 12" x 24" piece folded over to make a 12" square with a fold?
Correct! Thank you for the clarification. I will update my tutorial so that is clear. You are sewing the curves on a 2-ply 12 x 12 with a fold at the botton. {or I suppose you could stitch it all around.}
DeleteHope that helps!-aimee
